When I was a youth pastor at a church, I developed the following faith confession for the opening of our meetings. It became a faith confession that I would use throughout my life. I’m sharing it today for those who remember reciting it as youth, as well as for anyone new that it might resonate with.
I recognize that there may be people of different faiths that read my post. I encourage you to use a confession that works for you. My main purpose for sharing today, is to reset someone who may have gotten off course from what they believe. It is also an invitation for someone who does not have a compass to guide them through the course of life.
In my last post, I shared about vision being the first principle of Life Focus. I once heard that we do not live by blind faith, but by enlightened faith. May this faith confession enlighten your life.
Faith Confession
As a disciple of Christ I am God’s creation
Called for a purpose.
I no longer live for myself but I am
separated to love God’s way.
I seek to serve and I serve by grace.
Through faith and patience, I obtain God’s promises.
I do not destroy others to build myself up,
but I endeavor to hear God’s voice for myself
that I might run the race set before me.
I look forward to the day when I hear the words
“Well done thy good and faithful servant.”
But until that day, I will be strong and courageous.
I will keep God’s word in my mouth.
I will meditate on it day and night, and
I will obey it all the days of my life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
