As I was watching America’s Got Talent the other day there was an act by a group that called themselves “Positive Impact Movement.” They were a talented group of guys doing a mix of gymnastics and weightlifting.

After watching them, my mom asked me, “Do you do anything daring?” I told her, “I get out of bed every day.”

The reality is, I get out of bed and live my life. I try to make a difference with my family, friends and community. Nothing particularly dynamic but dynamic none the less. I get up and move.

That is a way of describing what Positive Impact is all about. Be who you are and make a difference where you are. Use your gifts to make life a little better for someone else. It doesn’t have to be a death-defying act designed to impress the masses. Be the best authentic self that you can be.

I want to start a Positive Impact Movement of my own. In the next month, I will be introducing the “We Care” campaign which is designed to encourage others to make a unified commitment to building safe and caring communities through positive relationships. You will be asked to commit to one or all of the following:
• Personal Development
• Family
• Leading a S.T.I.N.G. (see description on my website)
• Financial Support

Through these commitments, we will build, strengthen and restore ourselves, our relationships and our community.

In closing, I’d like you to meditate on one scripture found in Acts 17:28 which says, “In Him we live and move and have our being.” We are not statues or figurines to be put on a shelf, but living beings ordained for good works.

When we live in unity we move toward wholeness and justice for all.
