What time is it?

Well, it’s that time of year again when many people take the time to reflect on what they have to be thankful for. Some choose not to participate in Thanksgiving due to its association with negative events in our country’s history. I respect their position and acknowledge there is a place for these objections to be expressed. That being said, I still think this is a great time for us to prepare ourselves for new beginnings. What better way to prepare for the New Year than to reflect on what we have to be thankful for. Both for ourselves and for our Nation. We have a tendency to dwell on our faults and the problems we may be facing and not see what we have to be thankful for.

Reflection and thanksgiving can also prepare us for what we want to pursue in the future. It helps us with our Vision. I’d like to share three things that I am thankful for and what I would like to pursue in 2020:

  1. I published my first book, He Called Me Little Rock: Reflections of a Peacemaker.
  2. My wife and I purchased our “Dream Home” which has an attached studio for us to open a new business, UpLift Nola as well as provide space for some of the activities of Positive Impact.
  3. I was reconnected with the ministry of Larry Stockstill, who was my pastor when I attended LSU in the mid-’80s. His teachings along with connecting with other students involved in the campus ministry provided a foundation for my faith that sustained me over the last three decades of my life.

These three things have fueled the fire of my vision to positively impact the lives of people in the city of New Orleans and throughout the country. It is my prayer that, in 2020, I will see a new harvest of Peacemakers with a passion to provide service to others.

Many who are reading this post will be a part of this vision. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to get your hands on and read my book before the end of the year. (Look me up on Amazon.)  I believe it will be used to inspire you for service in the New Year. There is much work to do in order to see an increase in peace in our families and communities.

May the Peace of God be with you all.
